When does part of your slab need cutting out?
Most cutting calls start with one section that's broken, in the way or sitting over something you need to reach. Catching it early keeps the cut small and the rest intact.
One panel cracked or sunk
One section of drive or walk cracked or sank while the others look fine. Cutting out that piece keeps the good concrete, and broken edges chip worse with time.
A drain line under the floor
A plumber has to reach a leaking pipe under your slab, so a trench gets cut through the floor. A straight cut leaves a smaller, neater patch afterward.
A new door through a wall
You want an opening where there's solid concrete wall now. A wall saw cuts it square, and chipping by hand cracks far more than you meant to remove.
Ragged edge for new concrete
You're widening the driveway or adding to the patio, and the old edge is chipped and uneven. A straight saw cut gives the new pour a clean line to meet.
A root lifting one slab
A tree root has pushed up a section so it rocks or trips people. Cutting that piece out lets you deal with the root before it lifts the next one.
Water pooling against the house
A section of patio slopes toward your house and rain pools by the wall. Cutting it out and repouring it to fall away sends the water off instead.
How we handle concrete cutting in Wesley Chapel
Concrete cutting is sawing a clean line through a slab or wall so a broken section can come out, a trench can go in or a new opening can be made. Floors, driveways, walks and trench lines get a flat saw that rides across the slab, and walls get a wall saw that runs on a track, because a floor saw can't work on an upright surface. Before we cut a slab inside a home, we find out whether it has tension cables, steel cables pulled tight after the pour to squeeze the concrete together, and if nobody can say for sure, we get it scanned first, since cutting one is a far bigger problem than the cut you wanted. Then we mark the line, saw it and lift out the pieces when that's part of the job. Your price mostly turns on how many feet we cut, how thick the slab is, whether there's steel in it and whether we're working inside your house, and the start date usually turns on whether a scan comes first. I measure all of that on site and put your price in writing.
A cut is usually the first half of a bigger job, and the second half is where the base matters. When we take out a sunken section of drive, we can pour it back to the same line as part of our concrete driveway building work, and a ragged patio edge you want to extend becomes a straight start for concrete patio construction. Either way, we dig out and pack the subgrade, the soil the new slab sits on, before we pour, because new concrete on loose dirt settles the same way the old piece did.

Concrete cutting questions we hear
These are the questions people ask most before a cut. If yours isn't here, call or send the form with what you're cutting and we'll give you a straight answer.
How much does concrete cutting cost in Wesley Chapel?
Professional concrete saw cutting across the US usually costs about $4 to $15 per linear foot of cut, so the length of your cut is the first thing to measure. Thicker slabs and slabs with rebar, steel bars set inside to hold the concrete together, cost more per foot than thin, plain ones. That's a national range for the sawing, not our price, and my written estimate gives you the number for your job.
Does the price of concrete cutting include hauling the concrete away?
Not always, because sawing concrete and hauling it off are separate jobs, and some cutters make the cuts and leave the panels where they are. When you compare quotes, check that each one covers removal as well as cutting. Ours says plainly whether hauling the cut pieces away is in the price.
How do I know if my slab is post-tensioned?
For a Wesley Chapel slab home, your house drawings, the builder or the original permit set will tell you, so start there. A row of small patched pockets along the edge of the slab, or rust stains at the edge of the foundation, can also mark where the cables run. If there's doubt, one engineer's guide says to treat the slab as post-tensioned, have a scanning contractor find the cables and get a qualified engineer to approve the cut before anyone saws.
Will cutting concrete inside my house make a lot of dust?
A lot less when the cut is done wet, because water on the blade cuts the dust way down, and concrete dust carries crystalline silica you don't want to breathe. Indoor cuts also take more setup, like catching the wet slurry, hanging barriers, moving air or running dust extraction, which is part of why inside work usually costs more.
How do I get my house ready for concrete cutting?
Clear the area around the cut, and plan on the saw using your water and power, since one trade group's spec for hand sawing puts supplying both on the owner. If the cut is inside, move furniture and anything you care about out of that room so it's well away from the work.
Can you cut out just one bad section of my driveway in Wesley Chapel?
Usually, yes. We saw around the damaged section along clean lines, lift it out and pour new concrete back to the same edges, so the rest of the drive stays where it is. New concrete won't match the old color right away, which is worth weighing before you choose a patch over a full new drive.
